Ehe alles Legende wird... / Before it all becomes legend ...
The representation of National Socialism in German children's and youth literature (1945-1995). Exhibition booklet
The booklet presents the results of research on nine topics that were dealt with in the concept of the exhibition: Everyday life in National Socialism, Persecution of the Jews/Holocaust, Foreign workers and the persecution of minority groups, Resistance, Emigration and life in exile, Second World War, End of the war and post-war period, Flight and eviction, Traces/Neo-fascist tendencies. Approximately 1000 publications were analysed. This produced a comprehensive comparison of processing and avoidance strategies in the context of the subject of the exhibition in both German states, the first in children's and youth literature research.

Wörterwelten - Bilderwelten / Worlds of words - Worlds of pictures
Documentation of a project with 16 authors, illustrators and artists in 27 kindergartens
The publication documents the conceptual and practical preparations, implementation and evaluation of this project which ran over six weeks. The central point was how the picture book texts were received by the children - without seeing the illustrations.
In order to follow the process of reception more closely, the children were assisted in the artistic interpretation of the texts. The publication is a treasure trove for all those looking of models for aesthetic education in early childhood.

Der Rote Elefant / The Red Elephant
Books and other media for children and teenagers
The annual list of recommendations with approx. 70 reviews was published up until 1992 by an association of the same name which had been founded in the 1970's in West Germany. The left-wing political orientation of the publication determined the criteria for reviewing the books. After this association ceased to exist the funding agency of LesArt continued with the publication. The reviews are augmented by creative ideas on how to approach the books. Since Edition no. 20, the reviews of the adult critics have been placed alongside selected reviews by children and teenagers.
