Sechse kommen durch die Welt / How Six Men got on in the World An exhibition by LesArt in the Museum for Communication 2001, in the Picture book museum Troisdorf 2002, at the Leipzig Book fair 2003, in Brixen / South Tyrol 2004 and at other locations ... Sechse kommen durch die Welt / How Six Men got on in the World - Roots, Migrations, Contradictions in original illustrations by Eric Carle, Leo Lionni, Peter Sís, Grégoire Solotareff, Tomi Ungerer and Ed Young: this was the name of an exhibition which LesArt presented in Berlin in 2001 with original illustrations by the artists of world renown named above. The title of the exhibition referred both to the artists themselves, who travelled or travel to many different parts of the world, to literary figures who move out into the world and also to the distribution of the books themselves worldwide. The original illustrations went back to the artists or lenders after the presentation in the picture book museum, but the exhibition continued its travels. The exhibition was seen as a platform to engage with the pictures and encouraged the interactive use of text and pictures and provided enough space for discovery, but also for connections to be made between life and work. The exhibition catalogue is available in German and can be bought online.
