»Write and paint around the world with Poem Express« is the request of Dutch colleagues to children from many different countries. The Poem Express is an international art and poetry project initiated by the Autoped foundation (Rotterdam). It arrived at LesArt for the second time in the Spring of 2004 and showed an exhibition of poem posters from children and artists from around the world. These include work by children and artists from Berlin which were encouraged by LesArt. The Poem Express does not, however, just invite you to have a good look at these posters: it also asks the visitor to write their own poems and to lay them out as poem posters. On 2nd April, the international day of the children's book, poetry reading nights took place in 12 boroughs in Berlin to pass this idea on. The LesArt team worked with librarians using the ideas of Poem Express. LesArt then sent all the work to Rotterdam. In this way, the next Poem Express can travel around the world with work done by children from Berlin.
