Chameleon: Literature newspaper by young people in Leipzig
Eon of the camels?
Looking whilst I choose
I write for the world
As a disguise if no-one likes it
Read it as you please
If treated well
It will turn to gold.
Young people as the creators and managers of their own text and pictures: This basic idea of xyz - wir für uns made such an impression during a placement at LesArt that it was soon to find its way to a different place in a different form. No sooner said than done.
Chameleon has now been produced once a year since 2004 for the Leipzig book fair. The literature newspaper by young people in Leipzig is produced by the Bleilaus-Verlag / Haus Steinstraße e.V., and their print shop makes many different layout options possible. Wood print and hot type, linoleum, typewriters and diverse drawing and painting materials invite participants to express their spoken thoughts and feelings visually.
The material produced in this varied manner then has to be bought to paper in a proper, but experimental page layout. In this way, the young people gradually design their own varied and colourful Chameleon.
