Collection: Children's and youth literature in the GDR and Soviet Occupied Zone

Of the approximately 6,000 books now in the collection, 5,000 have been entered on data carriers (BISMAS) and, for the most part, been attributed with keywords. The objective is to achieve a complete collection with an estimated total of 9,000 to 10,000 volumes. (Anybody with children's and youth literature from this time (particularly 1945 - 1960) that they would like to give to us, please contact us!).
The collection of the children's and youth literature from the GDR and the editions from the Soviet Occupied Zone (SBZ) can be used on site in the library for research purposes. It is available to researchers and students of all the different institutes of research and education.
Registration for these purposes is required as the collection is located in a room which is often used for events. With this collection, LesArt is a member of a data association, i.e. a work group which caters for children's and youth literature in the German-speaking world.
